What You'll Learn
You’ll gain prerequisite knowledge and skills for advanced studies in occupational therapy through coursework in psychology, human anatomy, and other foundational areas. At the beginning of your senior year, you’ll enter our professional occupational therapy program and proceed to complete 12 graduate-level OTH courses toward your MSOT or DOT.
- Get a Head Start on Your Career
You’ll position yourself to graduate from our MSOT or DOT program and sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy exam a year early by earning a total of 36 OTH credits during your final undergraduate year.
- Develop Practical Expertise
This program incorporates diverse experiential learning opportunities, including OT Pro Bono Clinic observation activities during years one through three and full-fledged practice experiences during year four. As you discover your strengths through hands-on engagement, expert faculty mentors who prioritize teaching will remain close at hand to offer you personalized guidance and support.
- Lay a Solid Foundation for Excellence
At the University of Mary and particularly in the Saint Gianna School of Health Sciences, we acknowledge and celebrate the fundamental sanctity of human life and the innate dignity of the human person. Throughout your four years on campus, you’ll cultivate a holistic view of health and happiness rooted in transformative Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine wisdom.
- Prepare for Graduate School
Many students who pursue occupational performance further their education with an advanced degree. Incoming freshmen who have displayed superior academic performance in high school and have been officially admitted to the University of Mary can apply for Early Assurance to several graduate degrees, including occupational therapy.

As chair of the occupational therapy program, I have had the privilege of leading the program through several significant milestones, including the transition to a doctoral-level curriculum, expansion to multiple locations, and the development of innovative hybrid learning options. I am passionate about advancing occupational therapy education and creating meaningful learning experiences that prepare students for successful and impactful careers.
As a lifelong learner, I enjoy collaborating with fellow educators and mentoring the next generation of occupational therapy practitioners. Outside of my professional role, I am married to my husband, Brad, and we have two grown daughters and their families. I enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, and gathering with family and friends. In my free time, I also enjoy creative pursuits such as crocheting and paper crafting.
